Charging/Charger for Nook HD

Post by RogerL on Mon Mar 24, 2014 7:34 am

Have been pounding my head spurred by a concern of friend who owns a local restaurant.

A customer left a Nook reader on the table. He powered it up to try and find contact information He says it is not password protected but low battery shut him down before he could go any further. He did not have anything that appeared able to charge. He took to KSK to see if he could find a connector that would work. Was told mai mii.

He asked NancyL if she could help. That is how I got involved. After a lot of Google research the best I can tell is this is a Nook HD with a 30 pin micro USB charger/data connector port. It appears to be a Nook HD only design (as best I can tell from Dr. Google). I know there is some thought that any 30 pin micro USB charger should work but?????

Basically what I would like to ask does anyone have or know of someone who has a charger for Nook HD that could be used to charge this puppy up to try and find a way to contact the owner. I will bring to Tuesday meeting. confused

The Nook HD does not use the standard micro USB connector. As Roger pointed out it uses a 30 pin connector not unlike the older Apple connector, which I doubt could be used on the Nook.

I would be surprised if the Nook was even sold in Thailand, but it would certainly be hard to find in Chiang Mai. MBK in Bangkok might be one's best hope, but that's a long way to go on a hunch. One could only hope to find someone locally who has a Nook and barrow the charger.

It might also be useful to keep an eye on the various classified sections of publications like Chiang Mai Christian Community Classifieds for anyone selling a Nook as that may be an opportunity to barrow the charger briefly. It might even be worthwhile to put something in the "Wanted" section.
