How to Share Files Instantly Using AirDrop
I only just recently started using AirDrop to share video files between my Mac and my iPad. It's quick and easy. This article focuses mainly on iOS, but there's part about the Mac is at end. No more need to send yourself an email or a text with a link.
Using Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy to broadcast, discover, and negotiate connections, and point-to-point Wi-Fi to transfer information AirDrop is fast, power-efficient, and secure. When you're using it between iPhones and iPads, you can AirDrop photos, videos, contacts, Passbook passes, Voice Memos, Map location, and any and everything else that appears on a Share sheet.

Air Drop Demo - Mac to iPad
In the initial posting I mentioned that I have been using AirDrop to move video files from my Mac to iPad. I've created a short video to show just how easily that can be done. Basically it's just a simple drag and drop from one Finder window to another. Once the file(s) has been transferred it's only a matter of determining which video player you want to play it on.
My video player of choice is called Infuse. I am using Infuse Pro, which was about $10 when I purchased it a couple of years ago. It is available in the AppStore. Not only does it play a goodly number of formats, but its controls make it easy to adjust volume, brightness as well as forward and reverse with just a swipe. I also have a copy of VLC, which is no longer available through the AppStore, but it does not work all that well on the iPad. It hasn't been updated since it's initial release. I would, therefore, recommend Infuse.
