“Eat so we can meet” - Since the Airport Greenery has been providing us free use of the restaurant on Tuesday afternoons for close to three years now, it would be fitting if we patronized the place by buying food and/or drink while we are there. Eric suggested that for those who do not wish to partake of anything that they make a small donation either to the wait staff or in the tip box at the check-in desk in the lobby.
Don’t Fly on Empty
After chatter was picked up on the internet about terrorists packing smartphones with explosives, the US has alerted airports in Europe, the Middle East and perhaps even Asia that flights headed to the USA must include an extra security protocol in its checks. Passengers will now have to be prepared to turn on their phones at the security checkpoint to show it is a functioning unit. If the battery is dead, you will not be allow to board with the phone. Should the phone be dead, the passenger will be given some time, perhaps 30 minutes, to charge the phone on the spot. If that cannot be accomplished and demonstrated that the phone is functional it will be seized.
So don’t run that baby down on your way to the airport or on the plane if you have to make connections, because you may have to make the choice between missing your flight or giving up your phone.
Milestones
The Mars Opportunity rover broke the distance record for miles traveled on an extraterrestrial body by accumulating 25 miles driven. Seems it took close to 10 years to do that.
