Spark Mail App

Spark Mail App
I pretty much stayed with the Apple Mail app over the years because it did the basics well enough. I did use MailBox for a while because it had some swipe features that would let me snooze message for various time periods and that increased my flexibility and allowed me to move through my emails quite quickly. It wasn't long after DropBox bought it that it went away. I also used Google's Inbox for a while, but I just didn't like the way it was organized. I also used the Google Mail app, which is quite good, but it didn't allow me to control fonts, bolding and size the way I wanted to.
There's another posting in this section, which lists the best mail apps and Spark by Readdle is the top one of them. I thought I would give it a try. After a couple of days I was pretty much convinced and am sticking with it. It offers a Smart Inbox, which has some of the functions that MailBox had. it allows pinning, which keeps selected messages at the top of the queue and does a nice job overall. It's gotten very good reviews. Here is a link, which further describes it's features.

Spark Mail App Now Available for the Mac
If you are using Spark on your iOS device, you might want to give it a try on your Mac as well. Seems to be faithful to the feature set in iOS, though as the review states, there are some omissions.

Spark Keeps Getting Better
I've been happily using Spark for a couple of years now on my iPhone and on my iPad. I also have it on my Mac, but over there I have been using Gmail in my browser for the most part. Every once in a while I click on an email link or want to send a link to someone and it requires a copy and paste job into the browser. Sometimes I have inadvertently clicked on something and I would launch the Apple Mail app and it would start to download scores of emails to my Mac, which I don't want to store there, because it's a POP account and not IMAP.
There's just been a major upgrade to Spark including offering Dark Mode, which I really like in iOS. So I started looking at using Spark on the Mac as well. That works great when I want to initiate an email or look at an existing email, but on those occasions when the system launches the email client, I'm still getting defaulted to Apple Mail. If only I could change the default. I started looking around and I found that in the Apple Mail client for the Mac, if I select Preferences from the Mail drop-down, the General setting allows me to designate my Default email reader (first setting on the list) and with Spark installed, one can select it. Now it's all Spark, on the iPhone, on the iPad and on the Mac. You should give it a try if you haven't already done so.

Spark Could Now Be You Default Mail App
The Spark mail app just keeps getting better and better. And with the release of iOS 14 and iPad OS 14, you can now make it your default mail app. That's just one more reason to check it out if you haven't already done so.
