Malware Bytes for the Mac

I have not used any anti-virus or anti-malware apps on my Mac in the past because the MacOS was relatively safe and was not a serious threat target. Over time, however, there have been some serious attacks on the Mac. The use of Gate Keeper in MacOS reduces this threat vector, but the nature of malware these days is more from things like phishing attacks than file attachments. I have concluded that at some point I will probably have to run an anti-malware app.

I have heard a lot of good things about Malware Bytes, a free app, and I have since installed it on my Mac Mini and my MacBook Air. It did find some Malware on my Mac Mini. This is a lightweight program, which I now run on a monthly basis or if I suspect something fishy. I recommend its use.
