Google Drive Storage Plans Have Dropped to Ridiculously Low Prices
Prices for monthly Google Drive storage plans dropped massively today. 100GB is now $1.99 (instead of $4.99), 1TB is $9.99 (previously $49.99), and 10TB is $99.99.
For comparison's sake, you can get 1TB of space every month on Drive for the same amount you'd pay on Dropbox for 100GB. Current paid Drive users will automatically move to the new, cheaper pricing. Read more at the Google Drive Blog.

Re: Google Drive Storage Plans Have Dropped to Ridiculously Low Prices
Those are some very attractive prices all right. Google Drive also offers a service not unlike DropBox in that you can sync documents between your PC and mobile devices, but I already have things working quite well and am satisfied with the way DropBox has performed. I'm not hurting for space on DropBox so I am not inclined to temp fate.
What I have been doing, however, is use Google Drive in a less complex file structure to keep those documents that I need all the time or for special occasions/presentations. The only problem with this dual cloud strategy is that it could be difficult down the road to know just where a particular document is.

Dropbox's shortfall, in my opinion, is lack of encryption. (Recall three years ago when a Dropbox programmer's error caused a temporary security breach that allowed any password to be used to access any user account?) So then I started encrypting my sensitive data in Dropbox with Viivo and was satisfied with that setup. Then I discovered Copy that offered a FREE account that provides 20 GB (15 + 5GB signing bonus) and encrypts my data natively. Another plus with Copy is that it isn't necessary to move your folders into the Copy folder to have them synced. A shortcut to the folders placed in the Copy folder will allow those folders to get synced just as if the contents were actually in the Copy folder. Here is a short Copy video tutorial that explains what I just wrote.
I think you signed up with me and are a Copy customer as well Bill. Have you used it?

The other thing about DropBox is that, as you said, they have the crypto keys, which means that if the feds drop by they would have to surrender your data, that is if the staff weren't already looking at your porn , make that cat videos.
I did have the good sense, Mike, of following your recommendation and snagged the 20 GB of storage, but have as yet not done anything with it. Thanks for the poke and I will surely follow-up on this. I suppose one can have both DropBox and Copy running on the same devices. That would give some time for a transition.
We've missed you, Mike, thanks for dropboxing by. I know it's hard to drag yourself away from Clash of Clans .
