Here's a 5G update, which applies to the US, but will also expand your understanding of the two flavors of 5G. I wouldn't expect there to be significant deployment of 5G in Thailand in 2020 though there may be islands of coverage in the major shopping/business areas around the city. I would expect 5G in Chiang Mai as part of a second wave deployment in the coming years.

Here's another update from Marques Brownlee about 5G. This one is a little more encouraging especially for the future of 5G in Thailand because besides the millimeter wave, which offers high speed and performance, but has a short effective range and does not penetrate walls, trees and weather well, he mentions the medium and low bands, though offering slower speeds (still better than 4G LTE) are impressive. We could actually see one of these implemented in Thailand, even Chiang Mai in the coming years.
