portable hard drive
I have a Toshiba Canivo portable hard drive with 500 GB capacity and 80 GB free space on it but cannot save to this device or create new folder, all I can do is access the data.
When trying create folders, I get a prompt: File system error 65545, and when trying to save to this drive, I get Data error:cyclic redundency check.
Short of saving the data and reformatting the drive (not sure if that will even do it), is there a quicker option to solve the problem please?

Re: portable hard drive
Have you try to run chkdsk? Run CMD as an administrator: at command prompt type chkdsk (drive letter) /f /r
For instance, if your Toshiba's drive letter is E, type: chkdsk e: /f /r
Note: A CRC error is usually a sign that the hardware is about to fail. You may want to attempt to copy those files to a healthy drive / media before the Toshiba drive completely fails.
